So two days ago someone rearended me at a redlight. My ins company is coming mon or tues to see damages and give me a check. Do i take it or have some other body shop give me a quote first. What happens if i take it to a shop and they find more damage than my ins co saw?

    Thanks1022191505.jpg 1022191507.jpg

    Supplement.
Usually insurance companies will write basic estimate to get ball rolling. Just confirm that they are aware additional damage may be present. Any other damages or payments will probably go direct to shop of choice. The repair shop will submit supplement.

I would go and get a couple of estimates before the insurance comes out. Then at least you have a base to go off of. Get three and go with the middle or high estimate.

Not saying this is a good or bad idea, but as others including @JaCado said, get a good body shop estimate. The mounting points (for any bumper) and more could also be damaged.

Insurance agent here. Absolutely go get a written quote from a body shop of your choice. DO NOT take you vehicle to any of your insurance company's recommended shops, unless of course it is the same shop you chose first. You want your insurance company playing off your body shop's sheet music, not the body shop trying to shoehorn your repair into what the insurance company says it can be repaired for.

No appointments are needed. Judt drop by and they will typically give you an estimate.

Go to a shop you want not one with a approved sticker on their door. If they have that then the pay rate it prorated meaning the shop makes money by volume not cause the work is any good. I would look into a shop that does alot of aluminum work and sees bmws, Audi's, etc. They will take longer but generally the quality is much better. My 2 cents
