Great tool. Oh well. For me.

No impact at my office. There is no justice.

Just put together one by yourself and get any other generator that's cheaper than a honda one.

No i mean, it doesn't matter if you have have two hondas or one honda (or even three). Just save the cash and go to home depot or Amazon and order some banana plugs, a wire crimper, some romex, and an L5-30 socket.

I’d rather do $100 (companion) and $50 (parallel cable) and not deal with the extra crap.

One Honda eu2000 is rated for only 15amps, two of them tied together gives you 30amps. Don't want to overload these.

They didn't make the companion model back when I got mine, thus the big hood adaptation in my photo. The new eu2200 is rated 20amps, and 30amps when paralleled with another.

I have a regular EU2200i. Total bummer I have to buy a companion to run parallel. I can run the older EU2000, but it needs to be a newer one. I just tried to return my friends EU2000 since I just bought mine. He said he can’t imagine needing it. I think he wants me to keep it. I’ll refuse and dump it at his home in Oakland. Hell, his power could go out one day. Nice friend.

Tomorrow’s blackout, I’ll run his dry and prep it for the long storage.

The old lady next to me. I drove her to a hardware store tonight where they were kind enough to put one aside for her. The truck just dropped off ten units and they sold within minutes. This is getting real! Too bad I can’t pair up with hers. Oh well.

I’m happy she has her own unit. I’m am however still gonna have to set her up every blackout. Small price. She is a fragile 91 years old. I didn’t anticipate her buying her own. I should have bought more (ethanal free)fuel. Damn. Filling up her brand new unit took A lot!

The smart thing fir me should have been to buy a Companion from the get go. That can pair with anything.

You don’t NEED the companion, it just gives you the 30a outlet on the unit.

You’ll just need to buy/make something like this to parallel the 2 gens. (The box hanging on the front of left unit)

Wait. I think you can run two regular EU2200I. You just won’t have that 30amp plug?

“All EU2200i Honda generators can be connected to another EU2200i or EU2200i Companion generator, as well as some EU2000i model generators. The EU2200i and EU2200i Companion generators only are compatible with EU2000i or EU2000‘

I didnt get anymore time to run it. I got evacuated from the Tick fire at 3am. It looked like it would pass me by but the winds picked up and burned up a few homes up my street. It was raining down fire in my yard so it was time to grab my dogs and go. I picked up my wife at her work and headed to my parents house. I shut off the generator when I left.

The house seems to be ok and power is back on but they won't let us back in until tomorrow.

Nice thread @aficianado I’ve been thinking about getting one of those little Honda’s. Our houses are pretty close and I think the solar panels might run the fridge during the day and I’ll just need it at night. We’re close to a hospital and haven’t lost power yet during recent outages but if there talking about 10+ years of this crap then I’d better get ready.

I just have to figure out how to connect into panel with solar. I think I’m gonna have to manually turn off solar when running generator to not have them damage each other. I’d like to run an interconnect switch instead of a transfer so everything is inside the main panel but more research is needed.

Oh. Buying non ethanol fuel at the cloverdale renner was very easy. $5.90 a gallon which is way cheaper than buying in a can from the hardware store. It’s a no brainer
