On pages like this, it says that the 3RZ engine was in production from 1994-2004.

So I purchased a used 1995-96 engine to help fix my '98 thinking it would work. But now I can see that the head is different on the older engine, especially in that the camshaft sensor is located in a different spot.

Does anyone know if I can take a '98 3RZ head and put it on a '95/96 3RZ block?

I'm guessing I can try, but just wanted to know for sure before proceeding in that direction. Thanks.

The block is the same. Only the head is different. You should be good to go
