Looking to buy a Tacoma soon.
Hey gang, looking to pick up a Tacoma soon. My current f150 is suffering from body rust, I live in a coastal city right on the ocean. Salt water/air is always a factor, esp since we drive on the beach a lot. What are some ideas on preventing salt corrosion over time? (besides hosing it off after being on the beach). Thanks for any advice!

Do a forum search on Fluid Film.

And keep hosing it off anyway.

I’d hit the entire frame, brake lines, etc with a rust protectant.

seeing as you hit the beach you probably want to avoid a viscous coat like Fluid film cause I’m foreseeing a ton of sand caked to the frame. Maybe Amsoil HDMP, or plain Corrosion X or something along those lines that puts a thinner/drier coat that won’t pull so much crap. Inside of the frame I’d do the thick stuff.

it will mean you have to reapply more often though.

I’d also pull the rocker panel plugs and spray all inside and call it a day on those.

also hit your fuel cover plate hinge with some protectant.

Don’t forget your spare tire hoist either.
