2016 owner here- I will say, being able to click on by the literal hundreds of "my transmission is so baaaaad" wambulance threads was pretty freeing.

Also frankly, these trucks are boring as hell to drive on the road. Pretty sure id fall asleep and wreck in an auto :cookiemonster:

The hardware is not the problem. The software was borked.

Well, the autos have little baby gears too. If they had 4.30s like the autos theyd probably not be half bad.

I almost always prefer a manual transmission but I’m in the same boat as you. 3 x knee surgeries and only 25% of the meniscus I came with mean no MT for me.

Check out my build thread (Beginning of Money Pit)
If the gear ratio in ATs were the same as the mt, nobody would complain.

The surest fix for the AT is 5.29.

Funny true story - the truck I bought (OR MT) was sold the previous evening and returned to the dealership the following day. Apparently the guy's wife forced him to trade it back in for an AT saying that if he ever needed to get rushed to the hospital she wouldn't be able to drive the truck. :rofl:Saved me a few dollars ;)
