HP Tuners for 2005-2015

Worked on the tune last night with JustDSM and BOOM!!! That 4.0L pulls like a V-8 now!!! The pedal response and the (auto) transmission shift points are SO much better!!!

Hey, its took me two years to get headers in and a tuner, give me time to adjust lol.



So additional question, I notice my cruising AFR is like 15-16ish, full WOT is around 11-12....Didn't I read somewhere that Toyota keeps the tunes rich to provide cylinder cooling with extra fuel? Can leaning it out this much cause damage? Or am I crazy and should stfu and enjoy mo powah.

 

You definitely need to datalog. See if there is a discrepancy between your gauge and the OEM ones.

If so, your exhaust may have a leak before your gauge.

 

You're in good company! I haven't gotten around to it yet either.

I shipped my ECM to Justin on Monday morning & had it in my hands by Saturday evening.

It's AWESOME! Better shift points, holds the gears longer, requires less of your foot in it to get going. Just feels like a lighter truck and more responsive. I honestly had no complaints with the way she drove but I see now there was room for improvement. I take off from a stand-still, apply less "pedal" than before & she just accelerates through all the gears and shifts at a bit higher RPM & it feels like such a smooth shifting pattern. Also, when cruising at around 55 mph or higher & you press the gas pedal more it isn't so quick to downshift as it used to be. It holds that overdrive nicely! Of course if you need to get going then she will kick down with more pressure applied. Less trans shifting & smoother acceleration with less pedal applied makes the vehicle work less to get the same power. As I stated in the beginning the truck feels lighter and more responsive.

federal mandated emissions goodies cover all states.... i personally dont care, but if its not for closed course competition, it could have an impact on all of us, just saying.

HPT has already had to change stuff with their software to remove the ability to alter emissions stuffs on other platforms .... just saying.

 

I don’t disagree with you on the 1st part, but the later half isn’t exactly my interpretation.

Pages back, you and others who followed this thread my remember a post on here linked to a FB group where there was some grumbling about losing functionality.

My take on that:
For a long time, folks have deleted emissions equipment and repurposed those ECU inputs as to log the 5v analog outputs of aftermarket sensors (widebands/map sensors/etc) and HPTuners was used to make that possible.

I believe HPTuners recognizes they were losing money as people no longer needed the “Pro” features of the original MPVI to log those external sensors. When they developed and released the MPVI2, firmware was updated as well as the software. Definitions were updated to close those loopholes and force the matter, folks wanting to log external sensors need to purchase the Pro features.
