I also have a Truxedo Sentry CT (2018) and don't notice water pooling up on it... overall really pleased with the cover. Didn't want a retractable one due to loss of bed space and dealing with drain holes.

I would second (or third, or whatever) the Bakflip G2. I scored one off of Craigslist for $500 on my 2nd gen and it was the greatest mod ever. It was bone dry once I weather sealed the bed cubbies and the grocery getting ability was second to none. I have had vinyl covers on some previous trucks and they were horrible, the flapping in the wind on the interstate would drive me insane. If you are looking to spend around $600, I would browse CL, Offer Up or your other local classified and see if you can find a gently used higher tier tonneau, they pop up around me pretty often.

I am looking into getting a shell for my 2000 Tacoma. Any idea how easy/hard they are to remove and put back on. I'm thinking I'll want it on in some situations, but in others. Is it feasible to take them on and off?

FWIW, and if you can deal with the soft-top element, i brought a Tyger T3 Tri-Fold and absolutely love it. So easy to fit, has gone through Monsoon rain and held up really well, looks great, and at that price point, you could buy one every couple of years for the next 3 years and still have some cash left for beers and wings over the high end top.

I was a bit skeptical at first, but the longer i have had this the better it gets...

Good luck with finding the right one

I just ordered Sentry CT and was wondering if you are having same issues in the following thread:

    Let me know.... thanks!

The foam does rest on the plastic panel, but not as much as the pic in the thread you linked. Regardless, I don't consider it an issue. No water leaks in and it is not that noticeable.
