Yeah I saw this like last year. Not something I would do. And NOT in a Tacoma if I had to

Bad ass. Off grid, minimal bills, minimal responsibility, and you can go almost wherever you want. It could be a lot of fun for a few years.

Seems pretty good if you go into the wilderness for a couple weeks or so.

Not for me. But it is interesting to see how it was set up.

If you were gonna do this, you probably shouldn’t have a dog with you. Also, I’d probably want a Tundra for more room.

also, what happens if you need major maintenance, you’d lose your home for a few days as well as your belongings. Seems stupid in the long run

Depends on your hobbies. Tennis shoes, hiking boots, and a set of chacos is an easy 3. If you own a mountain bike, Flats or clip in shoes makes 4. Decent set of dress-ish footwear like some good leather Red Wings, etc makes 5.

We have a lot of people that #vanlife / camperlife / whatever here in SLC, esp around ski season. Most end up crashing on a local friends couch if they get in a bind. I'm actually keeping some stuff in my garage for a friend of mine that's doing the camper life right now, but I took the useful stuff like his shop air compressor and toolbox :)

Dogs live on the streets with no owner, no food dish, and no water dish everywhere in the world, as do many people as well. It's called reality and people should face reality.

I've been living out of my taco for the last two months... Park Ranger, and I'm stationed a little far from home at the moment. It works

Never been into the "overland" stuff. I prefer minimalist camping old school style. Less crap to carry around, and you don't need some overbuilt truck with tons of mods.

This basically sounds like bullshit. Why not save yourself all the time and money with all those mods and just pull a small camper around? At least that way you can unhook and have a regular truck instead of that Frankenstein shit, and you might have a chance at a girlfriend or at least some sort of social life if you have a home that you can both sit and stand in.

Or just build a friggin treehouse.

And the dog . . . reminds me of that old Norm MacDonald joke.
