I have the P0016 code and the dealer quoted me $3600 for the timing chain replacement on my 2005. What are others paying at smaller shops for this repair? Does anyone in the NH/Mass area know a good shop?

Damn, I had to get this done in June at 188,000 miles and I just barely bought it. A week and a half after I bought it, it threw a. P0013, little did I know that turned out to be a $3400 fix, but I had them replace a water pump, belt and of course they do all the gaskets while they get in on it.

I don’t really like to say this,

But since it’s an 06’, do you fix the chain and hope the head gaskets hold?
Or do you spend extra and do the gaskets at the same time?

Man I feel for you. I really do.
I wouldn’t like to be in you situation.
Hopefully you can find a a shop that is a little cheaper and help you make the best decision.

Maybe look to see the build date on the door sticker.
It’s said later model 06’s had the redesigned gaskets.
But I’m not sure there is a definitive date.
Maybe @Torspd knows the approx date?
