Snowflake rating makes a huge difference, I run a lot of unpaved roads covered in snow with the at3 4s every day. They perform really well in the cold. The LT's won't perform as well on ice. The tread compound is different and less siping.

I would consider a snowflake rated LT tire like the Falken Wildpeaks, or BFG KO2 if you're truly worried about punctures and sidewall damage. General tires has a range off LT tires you can stud for winter as well.

Thanks Bishop, I was originally looking at the Falkens but there were a lot of posts concerning balancing problems. Except for the ARE cap, I don't carry heavy loads in the bed, especially on rocky roads. Maybe I'm too worried about the # of plys? I've done a bunch of wheeling with the OEM Wranglers and then Conti Terrain Contacts with no problems. The Wranglers were pretty good snow tires but the Contis were fair/poor in the snow.

I moved from Duratracs to the Cooper AT3 XLT’s and couldn’t be happier so far... I’ve put 5k on them and I’ve been impressed with road noise, wet weather driving and aired down performance. I still need to test in snow and ice but that will happen soon enough. 6EE9D9C7-BEC1-45A6-91B2-6A250E710CB5.jpg 4FBD809A-567D-4335-AB70-B2F0C94BE391.jpg

Which Konig wheels are those, the six shooters? That wheel and tire combo look great.

Sounds like you’ve recently changed from the stock Wrangler Kevlars to Cooper AT3 4Ss. Would you compare the two of them? Do you think that the 4Ss are more or less aggressive looking than the Wranglers? On and off-road performance? Ride etc?

Yes, that's correct. I replaced the stock Wranglers which had about 40K miles on them. The AT3's are more aggressive and better looking than the Wranglers. Iv'e put about 1500 miles on them, mostly on 60 mph state highways, but also off road and in some snow. On wet pavement and snow the AT3's performance is superior to stock. They perform well and ride nicely on dry pavement too. There's slightly more whine/hum but not enough to bother me. Surprisingly despite them being taller and heavier than stock I haven't noticed much of a hit in gas millage; maybe .5 - 1 mpg worse on the highway. The tread pattern retains more gravel pieces than I'm used to with other AT's I've used. But the gravel seems to get thrown at highway speeds. All and all they get a thumbs up.

Thank you. I think that’s what I’ll replace my GY Wranglers with. I’m at about 35k now on the Wranglers and will probably have to replace them around 40k as well.

About to pull the trigger on some 265/70/16 AT3 4S's... Will these be ok for riding forest service roads without puncturing? The roads are mainly loose rock and SOME possible sharp rocks, but nothing major at all.

Also, what's the ideal PSI for these tires? Stock suspension, not hauling anything.

    Thanks in advance!

Just ordered the 4S in stock size 265/70/16. 2017 DCOR with Taco Pro wheels. I think I’ll turn white letters inside but kind of tempted to turn them out. I’ve seen all the pages in this thread but if anyone has pics of whites out, especially on white taco OR I’d appreciate it. Also, how do you keep the whites clean? Thx

Got a set of Cooper Discoverer AT3 4s' installed on my 2015 DCOR yesterday. Loving them so far! Ride is smooth and almost no road noise!
