Where is the beat place to tap into for a LED light bar install so it cuts off when the truck is switched off?

Personally I wouldn't bother with a switch. Run a relay and have it triggered by your brights. That way you can't forget to turn it off when getting out of the car or blind other drivers. Brights on bar on, brights off bar off.

Ever flash your brights at someone to let them turn into your lane? It's nice to have a kill switch so you can use your high beams without the bar melting someone's face.

Find the high beam power wire and run that to your switch's power terminal instead of tapping into a fuse to power it. Ground the switch. Run power out wire on switch to the relay. With this setup you can control your light bar with your high beam toggle as long as the switch is turned on. If the switch is turned off your bar won't turn on with high beams.

I can honestly say I've never flashed my brights to tell someone its safe to get over. Can't imaging a quick flash of the light bar would do much but your method works too. It's just much easier not having to run wires into the cab and mount a switch when you can keep all the wiring right in the front of the truck. But to each there own. Both are viable options.

    add-a-fuse on the highbeam fuse; 10A H-LP LH-HI or 10A H-LP RH-HI;

Use that as the trigger for your relay. add a switch in the cab to turn light circuit on or off.
That way you have full normal headlight function, then turn on added LED lamps, plus they are dimmable through your headlight function. Won't stay on and kill the battery.

I’d like to be able to use only the light bar by itself if desired.....

Personally I wouldn’t tap into a existing factory wire. Light bars are meant to be off road use only and street illegal. You might only be able to use it legally off road or when no one is around on a separate switch.
I use both my front light bars and rear light pods on a separate switches

All of them are on there own separate relay and switch. Just there own wiring harness to battery and switch. So I have three buttons for each bar

I would recommend @caribe makaira suggestion. Tapping an accessory circuit only for the purpose of triggering a relay isn't that big of a deal. And it adds the convince of turning OFF the lights when you turn OFF the vehicle.

Here’s how I did mine. The first LED lights up only when the dash lights are on, and the second when I turn on the light and I can still turn it on with the truck off. Harness with relay was really easy and the only way to go. The relay harness had 3 wires to the switch, blue/white/black. I used a ch4x4 switch with harness.
    On relay harness:
Standard connections, mounted relay and ran black to chassis ground and red to battery. Leg of harness had black to black of light bar and red to red of light bar.

    From the Ch4x4 switch harness:
Connect green wire to white wire of relay harness
Connect Red 1 to blue wire of relay harness
Tap Red 2 to green wire of cargo switch harness in the dash
Tap black wire to tan cargo switch harness in the dash
Tape off black relay harness wire

    Works perfectly!

I can confirm this works great for my Amazon switches, too. Except I tapped power for the switch off the 7.5 A cargo light fuse.
