My last truck was an off road and it was scary on the blacktop in certain situations because of the shocks .

The 5100s are just “regular shocks”, though they can be set up for lift.
The advantage is they are a larger diameter bore, so it’s easier for Billstein to tune them for a “best of both worlds” performance. They should be the stock shocks on the OR imho. They are more expensive is the only downside.

There is a 3G specific set you can find at Billstein Lifts or Headstrong Offroad, any number of places.

I would say that the 5100s are more super shocks or regular shocks on steroids.... as they are not only larger diameter but the front set is also ride height adjustable (up to 2.25” iirc).

Going from the OEM OR shocks to the 5100's I noticed they are slightly more stiff. Still comfortable on terrible roads but provide a more stable ride at highway speeds.

Yes. I’m very happy with mine. I guess what I was getting at, in repose to the question, is they don’t have remote reservoirs, don’t require adjustment tools, and use the factory springs.

Yep. 5100s are an incredible bang for the buck.

I think your experience will definitely vary based upon your reference point. I was coming from a 3rd gen Acura TL which has a very low and tight suspension.
