OP, I hear what you're saying, but also the budget is what the budget is. I ended up buying a 2019, SR/SX Access Cab for 28.3 TTL, the SR5 would have been another 3k and just not worth it in my mind.

I buy, never lease. One car I bought new and kept for 11 years. The next was an FJ that I traded for a 4Runner after one year for the same price (so I paid taxes only). The 4Runner and my next truck (Colorado) only lasted three years a piece, but the depreciation between the purchase and trade put me around $200-$300 a month. Much cheaper than a lease would be for the same trim, and I always have the option to keep them. The bottom line? I’d keep it for as long as you can, and then look into trading. Divide the difference by how many months you’ve owned it and decide if it’s worth the trade. You may find they give you a great number in two or three or four years that makes it worth trading.

Or you may fall in love with your truck and end up keeping it.
