    Hey yall,

December of 2018 I was on the road home out of Fort Stewart for Christmas past prior to deployment. 45ish minutes out the gate the tacoma bogged down shook and died. Any startup required heavy throttle but always ended up stalling. With throttle to keep it running was accompanied with shaking/misfire. A tow job later it was at a yota stealership. After coming back from Christmas pass, I had a little time to see what they had come up with. Told me there was low compression on two cylinders. (Cant remember which, but I think it was 2, 4, and/or 6.)

I haven't had the time til now to even start dabbling in her, drained the oil and there was a strong gas smell. I got her at 60k miles or so may of 2017, and now at 82k this issue happened. The stealership told me that there appeared to be the same spark plugs from the factory in her- meaning either they couldn't keep up combustion or failed altogether. Causing cylinder flooding and ultimately gas In the oil. I also didn't notice any metal in the oil.

Question for yall, do you think it did anything to the timing chain or any other components like piston rings after it was misfiring? Safe enough to put new plugs in, drain/replace the oil, and fire it up? Since the deployment its sat from dec 2018- october 19.

    Likely just flooded.

I would do just that, oil change, spark plugs. On top I'd clean MAF and throttle body, disconnect battery for 10 mins and fire it up.

After that it may have cat damage, I would drive the piss out of it, stay in lower gears etc.

Change fluids, plugs, put fresh gas in her and let her rip.

The ONLY thing that you will really see "mechanically" go wrong on the 1GR is the 03-06 headgasket's that go sometimes.

Awesome. Hope it works, wondered why the dealership offered 6k on trade in, with it having a "blown motor" costing me 8k to replace.

Hey, changed out the spark plugs, battery. Fired it up and it stayed running although misfiring. Cleaned out the MAF, the little amber hot wire was black on one side. Now just slightly darker. Throttle body had a lot of gunk, its shiny now. In between the maf/throttle body clean I also had an issue where it was stuck in neutral as well being hard af to shift. I had to go under the truck and manual shift it into other gears. It still won't shift with the console shifter. After putting it in park, and cleaning the maf/throttle body it will turn over and not fire. Yall think it was flooded again from the misfires prior to cleaning? Any ideas on the shifting issue?
