I listen to songs on a USB stick, mostly because I can't stand the crap on the radio now. When I turn my truck off and the radio was on, it's on when I start the truck again, same station and same volume. But if I am listening to songs on the USB stick when the truck shut off, the audio is off when I start the truck up again. Every time I have to hit audio, sources, USB and browse to what I want. It was not like that on my 2017 Off Road, the song on the stick that was playing when the truck shut off would start playing right away.

Probably the formatting of the USB thumb drive or the songs on the drive. I don't recall having this problem when my IPhone is connected. Have you tried something like an IPod?

This likely has to do with the new entune 3.0 system. Each time you turn off the car and turn it back on it has to remount the storage. The radio sees a empty USB port for a few seconds and that tells the radio it’s a invalid source, so it moves on the the next source.

While I don’t know of a fix, it’s something you should bring up with the dealer, with enough complaints Toyota can release a patch that tells the radio to stay on what ever source it’s on even if it’s a invalid source.

I know my Ram has an option in the menus somewhere to disable the source switching when I disconnect my phone from the usb socket maybe toyota has something similar, I haven't run into the issue on my 2017 my phone hooks up pretty quick over bluetooth.
