2011 tacoma tweeter location size

Hello!,
I was just wondering how big of a speaker could be mounted in the tweeter location in the door?I'm sure some mods need to be done but i was wondering if a 3" or 3.5 could fit?Thanks for any information,I just thought maybe it could be done and how would it sound?Maybe like a 2 way speaker.

 

I don’t think you could really go much bigger than maybe 2.5 inches. I’m actually in process of upgrading mine now, and if you’re going to continue to use the metal bracket on the door that holds the tweeter, there is limited space. This is what the adapter looks like that bolts into the metal bracket. You may be able to get something larger by making a custom mount.

I’m actually just putting a tweeter back in there. I went with the focal 165kx2 speakers. The new tweeter is a little over 2 inches by about a half inch deep. I’ll try to get a pick of it installed to see how much room is left.

No I’m going with the Focal tweeter. Sorry for the confusion. After re-reading I see you were asking about speakers in the tweeter location. Here is a thread I found of someone who installed a 3.5 in place of the tweeter.
