    Honestly, I am surprised that ban didn't happen WAY sooner considering the spectrum they can operate on and how that interfaces with the letter of the law regarding HAM radio equipment.

    It's not a ban. They're just not type certified so can't be used on GMRS frequencies, even though they're capable. They can also be modified to output excessive watts on restricted power frequencies.

    funny part is people thought that the ban would somehow make the baofeng a high demand product and so bought them in bulk and are now trying to sell them on FB marketplace for double the regular cost.
