I wouldn't recommend ANY of those pumps from the video for a truck tire, even a stock truck tire.

All those had a cig lighter plug. Those are terrible, slow, and easily overheat, or they'll blow your fuse.

My pump (direct to battery) will fill my 32" all terrains in a 1/3 of the time it takes those things to fill a car tire. Plus, I don't need to wait for it to cool down between EACH tire.

I do appreciate how this thread went form a softer suspension thread to an air compressor thread in less than a page, lol

Well we had to take a different route since he can't change his suspension, as he just purchased his current setup. But I agree lol

yeah for our purposes you want to get an air compressor that connects directly to the battery...those accessory/cigarette plug ones will drain the battery (the ones I had in the past said to operate with the vehicle off = big time battery drain) and they are slow as molasses. Those are really only meant for cars/sedans and using in an emergency to air up a single tire. The ones that connect directly to the battery terminals are much stronger and designed to run for a longer time

On that note, let’s transfer from compressors, to this. Just as I went to Walmart in the trok, at the light I was stopped and let off the brake when it turned green. The truck lurched and the shifter jerked this doesn’t happen every time but just curious what causes this.

Usually Transmount or axle wrap, very common.

That's pretty common with leaf sprung trucks. It's called axle wrap. It's basically just some stored energy from the torque of the motor, and the axle gets a little twisted, and then gets released. There are a few ways to prevent it or at least minimize it. New, higher quality springs help. There's also a trick where you clamp a square U-bolt to the rear of the axle on each side. That is a "poor man's fix" The farther you clamp it behind the axle, the more axle wrap it prevents, but it also makes the ride worse, because you are limiting the travel of the leaf springs.

Good point on the trans mount. It's definitely worth checking out. Worn mounts can allow excess movement.

So I guess it depends on how much your shifter moves around on you.

    Jesus H Christ!

Let this serve as an example of what NOT to do!

Notice the broken leaf in between the two clamps.

I have mine like 2 or 3" from the axle housing. And when I end up with Deavers or Dakars or whatever, I plan to NOT use this redneck fix.

So is this just a minor thing or something I should be worried about?

    Nah, it’s “normal”

There are ways to deal with it if it is annoying enough, but no, it’s not damaging anything.
