A really dumb question (noob owner)

    I hard wired mine into the over head lights also . I pulled down the upper headliner console super easy and tapped into the 12v hot with ignition using one of these

    When you plug the camera into a USB port on a computer does the camera display "USB" as it does when you plug into the USB port in your Taco? I bet it does and the computer probably mounts it as a mass storage device so you copy video files off of it onto your computer. My guess is when you plug it into your Taco the head unit in the Taco is a host so it can access music off a storage device and the camera is going into the same mode. If it was a current issue I don't think it would display USB. Either way, the solution is the same, in the Taco power it from something other than the head unit, this could a cigarette plug adapter or a hardwired USB power supply.

    I never used this brand but something like this would allow you to avoid the clutter of the adapter.
