I have a 2018 Tacoma with the 2.7l 2tr-fe engine. I'm looking to put in an engine block heater. The selection guide says it takes a cartridge heater and should be installed on the left rear of engine in one place and another says it is front center. I am not able to find the hole in either place and was wondering if anyone here could give me a place to start or better yet pictures of what I'm looking for.

I’m not aware of any cavities in the head that a block heater would fit into. What block heater did you buy?

The block heater for the 2.7 would typically replace one of the frost plugs in the block.

(Note: I haven’t actually looked for any cavities on the dual VVT-i head, but there weren’t any on the single VVT-i).

I believe that heater is intended for the 1AR-FE 2.7 and not the 2TR-FE. I can’t think of anywhere on the Tacoma’s engine where that could possibly fit.

Even though some sites list it as applicable, I feel it is an error.

That is what I am thinking. I have looked in the areas that it says it would go and can't find or feel anything that would fit. I called the dealer and he said to try here.

I doubt that you would need a block heater in that little motor even if it was in the arctic.....

Good luck.... Might be more work than then needed.
