Hey Connecticut, our everything hurts

A couple of things, and I'm a younger guy with only so much experience, so please don't take offense to anything, or in the same light, let me know if I'm way off.

1) You keep saying "its not my place" "I can't speak up".....You CAN and it IS. Now, how and to whom you speak up might make a difference. It's easy to attack the problem when you are mad and make a big scene you regret, which is what I believe you are trying to avoid. My suggestion is to make some notes of the biggest issues and things you don't quite understand and then when your "teammate" comes back, ask him those questions and get answers! Have him train you! It's not your job, it's not his job...but if no one makes an effort to change it, you will keep having this experiences. This guy is on vacation almost once a fucking month, the problem isn't going away.

2) You might be surprised, he might have similar questions when you are gone, just because its simple and easy to you doesn't mean he gets everything. He probably thinks his job is simple after doing it for 10 years and doesn't have any idea of your struggle.

3)Maybe ask that 3rd person who used to do his job for help at break or lunch on a specific topic sometime. Even if they aren't in your group, most people like to feel wanted and needed, they should offer some basic help or suggestions I would think.


These suggestions are work arounds to avoid dealing with a supervisor who seems incompetent, and to not show you need help. However, if they don't work, ask the supervisor, it's literally their job to help you do yours!! You don't need to be aggressive about it, hell I frequently play dumb to get people to explain things to me in a way I understand fully (maybe that means I am dumb for real?) Just say "Hey Supervisor X, I am having a tough time wrapping my head around this issue, can you offer some quick guidance?"


Again, I'm young and dumb and think I've got the answer to everything, and I could be way off here. I do wish you luck no matter what!!

Definitely gonna take this to heart and make some notes as I go along the rest of the week, and then go from there once he is back next week.

And I cracked up about your comment about him being off once a month! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He's been here forever and a day, so he has a ton of vacation time and usually saves it up for the holidays since he has family in FL, so they typically alternate who goes where for the holidays.

I'm glad my kid never got into Halloween...He only dressed up a couple of years and then decided he didn't like it. He doesn't even ask for the candy he WOULD have gotten if he did go, which is a tactic he employs on a regular basis for many other situations.

So I'm SURE we're all preparing our Amazon lists in anticipation for Christmas. What's everyone got on theirs? I know mine is filled with lots of little things for the truck. Ditch lights, organizers, hook and loop puches, an ATOTO A6 Android Head Unit (Ok, not little, but I'd REALLY like it this year)

 

I just want Amazon gift cards so I can save for a rtt. All I’m asking for.

So, here we are on Halloween with a bowl full of candy. As usual we have no trick or treaters (we live in the woods with a 300' driveway) But every year my wife insist we have candy just in case. I have no guilt in consuming what would otherwise go to waste.

 

We made it out for a bit with our neighbor. It was windy, rainy at first, then the rain stopped, then it came back. Still saw a lot of kids out regardless of the weather.

Now the wind is howling outside. Fingers crossed that we don't lose power.

 

I trick or treated by accident today.
Came home to a package by the front door. Fancy fresh baked cinnamon rolls. Going to enjoy a long slow breakfast Sunday I think.
I guess the holiday greetings have begun. Yum.

Except that the mother****ing electrician f'ed something up when he was separating the services between the buildings, so there's no power to any building on my property. I'm burning propane for absolutely no reason, and I can't remember where the shutoff is...
