simply put, because you have suffered a loss, not the bank.

scenario: bank repos the truck, sells it at auction for 5g less than the value, you pay the diminished value. The bank has now suffered a loss, they get to collect from you.

same as in a crash, you have a vehicle that will not command full price, you have suffered a loss and you get to collect the loss.

diminished value claims are separate from the crash claim and there is a different set of rules at play.

    insurance is a messy business.

the like I have posted show you just how screwed up the whole thing is. Read em, sir,

it is not something the normal person would know or even consider.

now I am gone from this thread for good.
Which should make everyone happy for those that are just bitter

Use your report button and attempt a ban.

    I've heard this before...

Why do you assume people want you banned? People can disagree with you and debate with you, without taking it personally.

Uuh no. I actually just went through this. Sent photos and video to the insurance company, they cut me a check for just over a grand.

it ain’t a disagreement when evidence or proof has been laid out, it then becomes idiocy.

I don’t take it personally. A debate is just that, civil discord as my DECA teacher used to say. this has been less than that.

I know there are some on TW that would LOVE me to be perma. Here is another chance to try for those.:hattip:

Means nothing, there are state laws also, a g might not be the required threshold in your state. The links I posted are LAW in all 50 states, your state insurance commissioner and lending companies can negotiate terms for business dealings in that state as long as they don’t impede on the FEDERAL rules overseen by the SEC and commerce departments.

the overall laws is what I have been trying to get some of you to see, specifics are for y’all to find out for yourself.

OP back to your original question, You'll probably get at least a grand+. On 3rd gens the bumper is in sections. So if they just hit one side or the other and that's all that needs to be replaced you'll probably get around a grand, that's what I got. If they hit you straight on and messed up both sides I'd imagine you'll get more.

I got the cost to replace the piece of shit stock plastic bumper. It was just about $800 not including labor. I asked the insurance guy if I had the get the exact same bumper he said I’m giving you $800 what you buy with it is up to you. I went for an aftermarket off-road style steep bumper to instead. Worked out nice. Then I got rear ended again 11 months later, replaced the bumper again, this time tailgate as well. Rear ended twice
In first year of owning truck.

You sound less like an asshole and more like a tool. One who can't admit when he's wrong at that.

unless you know what you are talking about, you would be the tool and the sheep.

you hold an insurance license? You been to the yearly training? Had the SEC investigate your life to ensure you could be bonded?

I am not wrong. I have provided links which show exactly how muddled this is and what the legal definitions are.

Yes the states can set rules specific to the area. This point is not the big picture, the core is what I have linked, specifics are to many to get into.

here is another link from Allstate.

    Oh, what’s a tool?

Well what I am telling you is that I just got paid out directly from Progressive a month ago and they said I could do whatever I wanted with the check. Im also saying that with the hundreds thousands of modified vehicles on the road it would seem the bank can’t tell you what you can and can’t do to your vehicle weather it’s paid off or not.

and a tool is a kin to being a D bag or a dick head, a loser. It was a semi popular term in the 90’s I thought I’d bring it back last night just for you.

When my bumper took a hit it was $2500 for all right side bumper components, paint and fixing a small tailgate dent.
