He seems to have a 3 lead switch. But yeah the relay would definitely help for safety.
    Edit: nevermind.

this is the switch and harness used before burned up. I’ve ordered some mictune switches to match oems since and yes it had 3 terminals on it

Woah, that's a lot of different leads. But you got it the first time around, so just give it another go and keep a close eye out is all.

Another recommendation for a relay from me. A relay can handle a lot more current than a switch.

At least you caught it in time!

When you get a chance, and if you still have it, lay it all out so we can take a peek at how it goes.

I keep thinking I want to build a combination fuse block and power distribution board with a wireless link to the cab. It would solve so many of these problems and save so much wiring. Making it reliable might be a challenge though.

If you go something like that for switches definitely go with a relay. Those switches aren’t designed to handle that amount of current. If I recall, they are rated to 3amps for OE style.

I'd second the relay. Keep the higher amperage wires out of the cab. IE just run the lower power switch wires into the engine compartment instead of running the power into the cab and back out. That's a cheap switch like others said that doesn't handle a load well. A relay will keep all that out of the cab. I know LED's don't draw that much power but it's a good habit to keep all of that out of the cab.

Sure enough. Not quite that fancy, but similar idea.

This x100, and to add, fuse the power leads as close to the battery as possible so if you do end up chaffing worse or they end up chaffed the fuse will blow and not risk having a shorted wire against bare metal.

I know you’re excited to get the lights installed and running but patience is a definitely a virtue here and take your time and do it right the first time. It’ll be a little more expensive up front but in the long run you won’t risk permanently damaging your truck or catching it on fire.

Aux box should be ok. I haven't heard of that brand, but as long as you're not pumping too much juice through it you should be fine.

I don’t know anything about the aux fuse block so I can’t say anything about it. I do like blue sea and would prefer to run that over anything else and for relays, I also prefer hella brand. Blue sea and hella cost a little more but buy once, cry once. I’d also recommend a circuit breaker to go between the battery and your aux fuse block. This way if anything happens to the power lead the break will trip and prevent any arc welding that’ll occur.

I recommend this. Blue Sea Systems 187 Series, 285 Series & Klixon Circuit Breakers https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005BI5466/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_NnyVDbYDQ8P0H

Another question I have, do you have the crumpets, terminal connectors, butt splices and heat shrink to do this?

How do you intend on terminating the connectors to the power cable?
