Here’s an 8 pt I shot with a bow years ago that had kinda the same thing. I’m not sure what causes it.

I was thinking ticks, but botflies makes total sense. Not sure if any of y'all have ever done your own Euro Mounts and de-fleshed a skull, but those things are pretty nasty. I've cleaned hundreds of deer and am not squeamish at all, but they almost make me gag. Almost every one I've done has one or more botflies inside of their sinus/ nasal cavities.

I've got a guy who does beautiful Euros for $100 and I'm happy to pay it.

I bury mine and cover them with a big Tupperware style container then set bricks on top to keep rodents out. It takes about 6 months for the bugs to pick it clean but it sure beats boiling and picking them and I'm willing to wait. I'm not squeamish really but I don't care to find out about any of the nasty shit that is involved with doing it any other way.

I do them myself and for other people also.

Its not that bad if you know what you are doing, 90% of the work is done by the pot. 10% by me...its really quite effortless IMO. It does take a few hours though...

We have a guy here that does Euro mounts at his beetle farm. He can have a whole deer head stripped clean in about 3-4 days. Charges about $85, which is not bad for around here.

I’ve used every technique and of course my way is the best.

I clean as much as I can, as soon as I can with the knife. Then they go right in the pot.

my method is pretty close to this:
    http://www.sportingshooter.com.au/latest/clean-and-whiten-skulls-for-a-euro-mount

the key is to go to a store that sells ethnic haircare supplies and buy the peroxide. It’s called 40v peroxide or developer. If you see someone who has worked there for awhile, they’ll likely show you the stuff that white boys buy during deer season. Brush it on carefully covering 100% of stuff you want white (carefully around bases). Keep applying until your skull is super white and you’re done.

Or, pay $100 and use the day to be sweet to your wife after coming home from a boys weekend at the lease, smelling of guts and whiskey. Your choice.

I do mine outside, I dont use pressure washer. Depends what detergent you use but a few can eat away at the nasal bones. I like to try to keep as much as possible.

I had some pictures of this deer and haven’t seen him in a couple weeks. He was murdered about 1/2 a mile away by a friend this morning.

This deer I shot this morning was standing at 96 yards. I saw him run up the hill. Started tracking and found him down this hill headed toward the creek. He was on a shelf about 5 feet above the water. The hill was too steep for me to walk up or down much less drag him up on wet leaves. I pushed him off into the creek and drug him 20 yards to the truck. I like them drags. He ran a total of about 100 yards.
