Just use 2012+ (SAI) exhaust manifold gaskets and you should be “A-OK”

 

Yeah they are capped. Figured if i do get headers why bother getting one with the tube. Ya know?

I'm doing the same thing in about a month when I do a new clutch install, have all the parts already. You need the 2015 header gaskets and shorter ARP header studs (

$120 434-1301 ARP 4341301 Header Stud Kit for Chevy LS1

434-1301) and sounds like the header holes need to be chased out with a tap (8mm x 1.25).

 

Why do the header holes need tapped? I was looking at the URD equal length that i thought came with the shorter hardware as well

 

Apparently the ARP studs fit just a hair too tight so the threads need a bit of cleaning. Read that in a different thread about the ARP studs. Think @Torspd had posted about it. I bought the 05-11 URD headers.

Ok guys so I know it has been covered before but what's the fix for the lower SC coolant res hose leaking??

I have been getting a light smell of coolant and today when I got home from work I figured hmm maybe I should check that. Sure enough bottom hose is all crusted up and a little wet at the bottom. Is the only solution the figgs?

 

a hose clamp is best. you could rough up the inside of the hose a little with light sandpaper. maybe in conjunction with silicone?? check for cracks. they are plastic.

 

When mine was leaking it ended up just being the clamp was a little too loose. Just thought I’d share that since I once had a leak too.

 

I don't like the sound of this, I tried to tighten it (albeit with a screw driver) and it wouldn't budge.. I wonder if the plastic is cracked.

try a new clamp. they fail too. use a socket on a hand driver.

 

The 03-04 1GR heads have slightly larger head studs holes, than the 05+. A thread chaser with a flat tip is what need to be used to get all of the threads. I first tested the studs on an 03-04 1GR. Used engine of mine. Worked great. Everyone else, with their 5+'s had issues with them being too tight. Thus the thread chaser was the key.

 

this kind of know how can only be learned by experience.

Has anyone used this pulley puller from ZZPerformance to change pulleys ont the TRD S/C? I bought it last year and went to do the install this week but it doesn't seem like this puller will fit on the backside of the pulley.
