Yea I looked at Focal but to get into the same realm of sound as the audio frog GB series I would spend waay more than what the audio frog costs. I’m keeping my stock HU No need to change it even with the 5k I’m spending.

If you have tweeters put a set of separates in. By adding two or three way speakers down below while having the factory tweeter you are losing out.

I put these in and they FIT Perfect despite Crutchfield saying they wouldn’t. I ordered from them so I could return if they didn’t and they fit perfectly and sound great.

Rockford Fosgate has always made great speakers. Focal speakers are nice as well. Pioneer TS speakers are more efficient than both of the above brands typically. Comparing RF and Focal to Pioneer TS is like comparing a Toyota Matrix to a Toyota Supra. Sure the Matrix is a great car but it'll never be a Supra as delivered from the factory and vice versa. Pioneer TS is a great speaker for a low powered system. I have Pioneer TS.

You will achieve better results with an external amp with RF and Focal speakers versus no external amp.

I have never heard of Audiofrog so I just looked them up. I couldn't find a GB series 6x9. Their crossovers are definitely high end and definitely over-engineered and definitely not necessary. I see huge magnets and deep baskets which also are definitely not required to achieve great sound.

I don't know if that person owns stock in Audiofrog, is in their sales department, but they are comparing a watermelon to a life saver flavored candy The question that just begs to be asked: why would a person spend $5K on an audio system and not change the source of the sound? You're amplifying crap technology. Sure it could sound great but you're still amplifying crap technology. Why?

Design and install quality are more important than component quality when building an audio system. Spend more time looking at people's builds themselves instead of what components they're putting in and I promise you'll have better results.

    On point.

A killer install on a $5 speaker can sound better than a crappy install of a $500 speaker.

Nope no 6x9 but who wants to keep those in their setup anyway considering the limitations? I’m sticking with the stock hu it for ease at this point since I have the JBL with sub I’m just going to tap into the back and keep it simple. If the sound isn’t up to par I will swap the hu but trying to keep it all the same if possible. I've heard something close to the setup I'm going with and the production from the stock hu isn't an issue. As far as audio frog yes they are built but give em a listen sometime and you will hear why. They will outperform focal at almost twice their price point. That’s the way I’ve always compared the ole bang for your buck route. I’m not a brand whore either really. Most make nice stuff once you get up in price points. Most make junk at their lower price points. Well not really junk because it’s probably still better than most OEM jobs. I almost went back with Utopias that's I've put in several vehicle but after hearing the frogs I was kind of blown away. Sounds good to who and at what volume? Are we entertaining a whisper in a closed cabin or are we pushing watts and staying super clean? Got to massage the 15 a bit to get it in the tweeter location. Got to make a adapter to get the GB60 and GS60 to fit the doors. I plan of having fun with it.

Couple of weeks back I installed the Subaru tweeter size speakers in the dash. Pretty easy installation and once I played with the sound level on cell phone and front back balance, they do sound a lot better than the factory speakers that look like speakers for a door buzzer that you don't care if it ever works. They are that cheap. I would say the only thing that has nothing to do with anything, the Subaru speakers are pretty expensive for what they are: $100 give or take. But they bolt in, no adapters, no wiring to fiddle with. Plug and play, I would recommend. There is a lot of other info on the site about upgrades etc if you can find it. I have now decided on the front door speakers next. Too many choices. If you do the doors (front and rear) you need some adapters/spacers and I think you will need to solder the wires if you do not get wiring adapters. I remember as a kid putting speakers in the doors in my '66 Chevelle convertible. I think there were two choices..... life was easier..... all driven with an 8 track player.

There's a ton of good info on this thread imo. I'll be rereading it.
    With that, let me add;
Component drivers rather than coaxial/ triaxial speakers are a much better choice for creating the stage. The higher the frequency, the more directional it becomes.
The goal, is to make left and right disappear; blending to create a stage in front of you. Ya, I know it's pretty much impossible.
Moving the mid-range and tweeters up helps a lot though.
I'm old school, I was taught go big with the amp. I want decently loud, but I also want headroom in the amp before it clips.
As for the speakers, that's tough. I don't like buying speakers without auditioning them first. Sadly the box store sound boards aren't the best. Go to several stereo stores if you can and have a listen. Not all speakers sound the same, and what you like, I may not. Bring a CD of some familiar music and play around.
Lastly, speaker voice coils get hot and can warp if played loud then shut off. Turn the tunes down for the last song before your destination.

Your best bet is to get 6x9 to 6 1/2" speaker adapters. Then your options are expanded a lot and with higher quality speakers.

This! Scrap those 6x9s and get on the gravy train.

JL Audio - pick whatever line is in your budget. The higher end lines aren't intended to reproduce any deep bass though, or otherwise have a narrow-band one-off boosted bass frequency somewhere between 40 Hz to 50 Hz (like factory car speakers). JL speakers are very natural sounding, almost like monitors. Its a slippery slope though..

Upgrade order should be - 1. Head unit (or just add a power-pack), 2. speakers, 3. amps or subs. The OEM speakers may look crappy, but they just need more power to sound to play louder.

I've seen this first hand. I was surprised to hear factory speakers (different vehicle though) amplified, in fact they usually sound better than a lot of the "lower" end aftermarket speakers. The power is much cleaner which equals a more clear sound as long as you keep the gain low. But that is true with any amp/speaker combo, if you're stressing the amp it just won't reproduce sound well.
