    Stock... for now.
Hello.. My stock battery crapped out after less than 3 years. Which I was thrilled about but at 38,000 miles what can you do. So I bought a new one today. While hooking the new battery up my truck continuously honked. So I disconnected the battery and researched. Google said it’s an anti theft thing and just hit the unlock button on my key fob. So I did. Didn’t work, disconnected the battery again. Thinking this would take 10 minutes I had groceries unthawing in the back of my truck. So I put the old battery back in and hooked it to the jump pack. The truck came on sorta normal, except it said no key fob detected. So I did the start procedure you’d use if your fob battery died and touched the fob coil to the start button coil and got it to start. Then every error under the sun popped up including “brake override errror see dealer” the Outside air temp also read E the truck was running but the nav screen wasn’t on nor could I get it to shift out of park... I don’t know what is going on. Anyone know anything? I’m stressed the eff out.

You connected terminals in reverse, see the dealer. Some fuses and computers are fried now. Is your window controls also out of service now?

Brake error - replace blown fuse in the engine bay where fuse box is.

Windows control fuses are in the cab under steering wheel (if they are blown, usually they are).

Your nav is done, you will need new one, start saving for aftermarket.

Also your 140 AMP alternator fuse is most likely blown now and will have to be replaced, it’s a bitch to remove it from under the fuse box. If you are not skilled DO NOT TOUCH, it’s a wire mess there, I had to open it once.

    good luck!

That was my first thought too. I'm betting the new battery terminals are reversed.

Reversed or not being able to tell + from - is pretty elementary

Unfortunately it's an easy mistake to make. In a perfect world, battery cables would only fit one way.

Its the only thing you need to check when hooking up a battery.

Most likely it is Group 24 and not 24F where polarity is reversed. I’ve seen those batteries before, easy to make mistake if not paying attention.

Disconnect the battery and touch the terminals together then reconnect to their respective posts on the battery

True. In a perfect world you wouldn't have to check anything .
