Hey, it’s been a while since I’ve posted here. So, I’m in the market for a truck. I’m in NorCal we’re it seems everyone likes to charge top dollar for their Toyota’s. So, how the hell does one properly value a Toyota truck with 4x4 since Kelly blue book is way off.

for example I’m looking at a all stock 1992 v6, 4x4, 160k original miles. The thing is pristine inside and out and has been in a garage most of its life (2nd owner).
KBB value is 4K for “very good” at the dealership. The private seller is asking 11k!

would love any advice on the matter and understanding how these folks come up with their asking prices.

    thank you!!

Don't go by KBB they suck and mostly go towards what Dealers want. Use NADA, or Truecar not sure if they do used. But if it is in fact pristine 11K is not out of the question.

    I'd rather have a "rough" 1995+ Tacoma, over a pristine 89-95 pickup.

The torsion bars make lifting hard, the 3.0 has the power of a 4 banger and the mileage of a v8.

If it had a 22RE engine it would go for more.

Really great info here. thanks for all of the replies everyone. I decided to hold off on that after finding out it wasn't the 22re under the hood. I think I've found a good 1st gen 02', V6, 4wd, 155k, for 9k!! to top it off its from a yota dealership

Good call, that old V6 isn't an engine I would want anything to do with. The 2002 V6 was fantastic, find out about the timing belt history though. I'd consider doing it upon purchase regardless so I have my own baseline for it.

    Good luck in your search.

If it’s as nice of a truck as you described someone scored it. Good for them. All this negative talk about the 3VZE. I am a owner of one, got 19 combined mpg last tank and 254k trouble free miles.
