Changed the battery in my 2017 Tacoma. Everything went wrong.

I tipped by bike over for the first time in a driveway yesterday. I looked back, got leaned a little too far, and it was over. Lucky, only everyone in my motorcycle organization as well as my girlfriend (the one I was looking back at) saw it.

When I was in high school I drained my trans fluid instead of my engine oil and didn't realize it until my trans was fried. Luckily, my engine survived with an extra 5 quarts of oil.

    Shit happens.

That happens weekly in the 2nd Gen forum, don’t remind them. It’ll happen more with 3rd Gens as time goes on.

I am so damned careful about getting the correct battery, and I even check the polarity as well.

BTW The wife's CRV Touring battery didn't make it two years and Honda would not make good. Bastarts.

Well interesting thread to say the least.

Having to assume a few things because We don’t have enough info.
    IF YOU DID REV BATTERY.

    I would not drive it.
    Tow it.

Fuses help protecting systems but are not fool proof.

You could be looking a some major repairs here.

Some of the things that can be destroyed are

    Radio
    Abs hydraulic ass.
    Alternator
    Smart key ecu and oscillactors
    4wd units.
    Blind spot
    Backup assist
Basically any and all systems are at risk.
Some seem to be more touchy than others.

I had to replace a battery in a Prius 2 weeks ago.
    Double check battery numbers etc.
    Something didn’t look right.
The exact same part number and application AND IT was tagged wrong.
    Terminal reversal.
If I had hooked that up I could have been looking a 3 to 5000 in repairs on the low side.

Could you have blown fuses ? Absolutely
Could you have residual problems? Absolutely.

Once you get it looked at you will know kinda what’s going on.

I will say if this has come to be true and they say components need to be replaced expect a phone call after said parts are replaced with the truck needing more parts.

Until things are woken up and can talk you really don’t know completely what you have.

It's not just TW. Join any car community forum and it is exclusively filled to the brim with dicks. Tis why I dont associate with anyone from forums IRL outside of thread posts or PM. Because if they acted like that in reality, they would immediately receive a falcon punch and there would be a supermassive black hole where there face used to be. But on a forum it's all in good fun. Think of it like a digital "purge" where we all come to be degenerate pricks to vent our shitty life frustrations on the unsuspecting and vulnerable.

Exactly. I was always puzzled as to why this wasn’t standardized decades ago. Make the negative side a triangular post and keep the positive side round. No more reversed battery cables. Mmmmm...I think I just had an ah-ha moment:)

I can't decide. Would it be cheaper to just plug it all back together and hope for the best, or pay a mechanic to pull it apart one piece at a time? I feel like so many mechanics these days tend to throw parts at things and hope for the best that you'd have to really dig around to find someone capable of doing this correctly. Most of them certainly don't have the electrical tools/knowledge to fully check out any of the electronic modules. (And if they could, would you be buying them a new boat?)

I'm an inattentive klutz, therefore Anderson powerpoles are slowly taking over my life.
