Get a lithium booster, I've had that duracell booster, it can leak and it only lasted 1.5 years for me. (I kept the leads off of it though)

    https://www.amazon.com/NOCO-GB40-UltraSafe-Lithium-Starter/dp/B015TKUPIC

Genius boosters last a long time and handle professional use. They are currently the best pocket boosters.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T49JQBR/ref=dp_cerb_1 Cheaper options work as well, I have an older one similar to this and it can start tundras in the winter.

It's hard for me to link to the US Amazon so bare with me, I cant see the prices.

do these come fully charged or do you obviously probably have to charge for a few hours?

They should be charged for sure, some of them have cigerette lighter chargers so you can top it off from time to time in the truck.

On average a charge last about 6 months or 4-5 boosts in my experiences.

We have about 4 at my dealer that rarely have issues.

So 1000 amp is plenty enough for a Tacoma 4.0L

More is better, but you live in Arizona, we encourage the higher amps for colder climates and thicker oil. I've used 500 many times to start many trucks.

Really all depends on the state of the battery. If it's just a little sluggish yeah 1k amps is great. But from dead as a hammer it might not work.

Another vote for the Genius. Also handy for charging your phones/tablets in a pinch (12v USB adapter stopped working on a road trip). It holds a charge surprisingly well in the AZ heat.

Just the essentials and no extra fluff.
I just checked my NOCO after sitting for 6 months. Still fully charged.

Just a side note, if your battery is questionable, it should be replaced before going on an excursion.....

I'm still just trying to wrap my head around the naming convention. The GB40 is 1000amps, the GB50 is 1500, the GB20 is 400 amps, etc...

Seems like the GB40 should be plenty sufficient. The specs for my 4Runner's battery is like 550+ CCA's (biggest motor I have is the 4L). Roughly double that should be good.

Might pick up a couple of them and have one for the wife's car, too.

At my dealership most of us techs have noco jump boxes, they are very nice but I still just keep a $50 Amazon jumpbox in my truck for the rare occasion I need one and it's worked fine the few times.
