    You shouldn’t have to worry about the temps, I use mine all winter and it gets to -40 here, I would recommend changing the battery every 6 months or something. Our vaults are aluminum so it dissipates heat, but I haven’t done extreme heat testing, if a key would melt sitting on the dash then I’m sure it would melt in a vault. It’ll definitely be cooler than direct sunlight though.

    I would think there is so much more varied electronics already sitting in the truck during those same extreme temps I wouldn't worry about the bit in the key.

    Just to clarify, your box I'm looking at for $70 does not include the required lock? That's separate right?

    That’s correct, but the pricing is in Canadian dollars so it’ll be cheaper in USD

    The lock is sold separately as some people have their own pins or want to use a different pin.
