Getting ready to wire in a switch for a light bar, and will be using the unused small switch location above the Qi charging pad above the center console.

Has anybody taken apart the lower dash to access behind these buttons? Any tips appreciated.

Anybody installed a switch in the blank in the lower dash above center console? Going to try to install a switch this weekend and looking for tips or a diagram.

Post the part number of that bezel when you do get it out if it is stamped or has a label on the back side please. Didn't order the tech package on mine so it won't have the 5 switch bezel like yours only the 3 switch....

After looking at how to access these switches, it seems like it will be a major PITA. Looks like you need to first remove the lower dash under the steering wheel, the lower dash under the glove box and remove the console.

Still looking for a diagram or somebody that has actually removed the switch bezel.

I popped the blank out (the blank where ECT switch would be on a truck with auto transmission) and was easily able to fish a long zip-tie through to the area above the pedals. This means it will be easy to fish wire for my LED lightbar switch.

This information does not help those wanting to remove the switch bezel or upgrade it from a 3 opening bezel to a 5 opening bezel.

So, you just pushed the blank hard until it went into the console? Could you get the blank back out?

I am also wanting to do this. It is my understanding that there are two different switch sizes that toyota uses. The one where u want to put the switch is fatter than the ones where the clutch start cancel switch is. I have been trying to find out the different sizes so I can order the right switch. Just a heads up so u don't get the wrong size switch. Sorry I can't help as to how to remove the dash panel for access, but there is a thread were the guy switched the three switch panel for the 5 and did a write up. I will try to find it. I plan on doing the zip tie method when we figure if he pushed the blank in or popped it from the back.

I tried pushing it in and it wouldn't budge. Then I got a slim screw driver and pushed it into the edge and pried it out and it came out quite easily. My plan was to drill a hole into it and mount a small switch into the blank. It took a while at AutoZone to find a switch that would fit (most switches are pretty large). Even though I drilled a pilot hole in the blank, my bit walked so the hole is off-center, but it looks acceptable. There are some scratches but they're pretty hard to see (even though they stand out with a flash). I'll be able to feed the wires back and and then pop the switch back into the hole.

Did you get a look at the adjacent switches to see if they will come out the same as the blank panel? Just wondering as there seems to be interest in modding the ECT switch. It would be nice if they just had a lock tab and could be pryed out without destroying the bezel face.

It seems like a lot of work but it really isn't too bad. Maybe gen minutes worth of panel removal. Stereo surround (pulls off), stereo (4 10mm bolts), hvac thing (pulls off with three connectors), then you are there. I can't remember if I had to pull the driver side knee panel off or not.

There seems to be two sizes of the switch bezels from the left of the steering wheel to below the radio center console. I'm trying to put a permanent on USB port but when I ordered it, it only fit in the left driver's side slots. Anyone experience this? What size should I buy for the lower radio bezel console slots? If you installed a USB slot there can you send me a link to that product? I'd appreciate it.

Generally, there are only two sizes for Toyotas, small and large.

I installed this one on the left side of center controls:

I installed this one on the right:
