I have 4 new oversized tires that are installed. I also have 1 decent used tire with no rim. I'm going to buy a rim online with no tpms. will the shop install it as a spare without tpms?

Yup, tpms is not a requirement for the tire to be mounted on a wheel and used.

The TPMS light will blink, which is annoying but you get used to it.

A new TPMS sensor will cost you about $15-$30, buy one and have the tire store install it when they mount the tire. Considering your truck is a 2006 I'd buy a set of 4 for around $75 and replace all of them.

The tire store may mount the tires, but if you're ever in a traffic accident that can be traced back to a tire failure you open yourself up to lawsuits because you disabled a safety feature designed to prevent those types of accidents

You'd have to kill like 16 children before anyone is going to dig into a crash investigation to that extreme.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
"How many children were killed? 15 detective. Well, well get this mess cleared. This road must be open. Had it been 16 we would have a real investigation here!" LOL....

I only have a tpms in my spare. My other 4 sensors are on my work bench in the garage. Been about 2 years and no light. I know the light works cuz the spare was low in pressure and the light came on

Will a tire shop mount the tire? Most likely unless: Only issue I can think of is if you're in a nanny state with a yearly safety inspection that looks for the functioning TPMS light. Otherwise, you're good to go.

I ran only 2 TPMS sensors in my 2012.
I just held the reset button and the light went away after a few miles.

Worth noting if the sensors are on the work bench in the garage when you reset the sensors the truck will recognize them and think you have a flat lol
