I didn't see it in the manual but does the 6MT have an anti stall feature for crawling? Similar to the Wranglers.

    Thanks for the insight Einstein.

I'm referring to crawling in 4LO without pressing the gas since the torque from the engine keeps the truck going.

I'll just try it myself sometime. Was just curious if anyone had done it already.

The wranglers have a clutch start cancel feature which is designed to allow you to start the jeep without depressing the clutch.

It is not designed to keep the jeep moving at a low speed as Toyotas crawl control feature does.

Sooo...not really sure what your axing...

I'm not sure if it's a separate system or not, but you can crawl pretty well in 4lo 1st gear without throttle input (I don't rock crawl or the like, so I couldn't tell you about that). May just be the combination of the ECU idle speed adjustments in concert with the torque multiplication in 4lo.

Just used it today at an Offroad park. It is by no means automatic, but for the reasons Frank gave above it does a pretty good job keeping rpms up. By the end of my day I found myself modulating the gas more than the clutch.

There is no Crawl Control on the 6 Speeds.

Cool yeah. That's what I was getting at. I'll try it out next time I use 4LO. Thanks!

Isn't there a feature that allows you to bump the starter while the truck is in first gear? Sort of like a poor mans crawl control for the manual transmission.

Alright this is an ancient thread - but in my experience the engine doesn’t idle high enough to climb over obstacles without stalling, or making terrible knocking noises

is there any way to put in a high idle switch on these trucks for off-roading?
    — short of my right foot, of course ;)

4HI in the 6MT is a great way to burn a clutch up off road. 4LO in 2 and enjoy.

Oh i was using 4Lo. But in places like Moab or Engineer Pass, there’s still just not enough torque multiplication for the 500rpm idle to handle given it’s low torque output.

i don’t even like it’s low-rpm creep in a parking lot, let alone over rocks

    this should work
