It's all remnants. I have limited options around here. $70 for all that. Too much?

This is just a warning I had a one of the welders at one of my customers

sadly get a spark in his ear putting a hole in the ear drum one of the smaller places where PPE is more a personal choice then mandated . just one of those freak things you never think about

Back in my day that ear would be done has medical technology improved enough it could be fixed ??

I always wear ear plugs it makes it easier for me to Focus

I been welding for 34 years and never got a spark in an ear......until about a year ago and have had it happen 3 times now. Nothing worse than hearing that sizzle and not being able to do anything about it. Kinda like a spark in your shoe, by the time you get to it it's too late.

Only tig welding i barely get sparks unless i'm doing something wrong like welding dirty metal or not enough gas. Especially on stainless with a gas lens, which i weld most, i've literally never seen a spark fly even with the windows in my helmet. This normal? Missing something?

Looks good! I know people who been welding a long time that can’t weld that good.

Tig welding is usually not a issue then if your by yourself the idiot a few feet away being careless with the direction of the sparks from the grinder.

Sparks from grinding that was a very expensive lesson

The injured party really has no idea if it was just a spark from his welding or a spark from someone else.

The pain is short term living with 50% of your hearing gone the rest of your life sucks

its bitter sweet that I post this message.

My own DIY bender is a failure, I had high hopes. I really wanted it to work so I could pass along the (potential) awesome savings to my TW brethren of a DIY Tube Bending Die. I think if I had better access to scraps / CNC Plasma it *might* have been able to make it work. even after shimming up the die so the tube was really snug in there, I still flattened out the tube during the bending process. I think my die is not strong enough along the top allowing the metal to bend out.

    That was the bitter part.
    now for the Sweet.....

Summit Racing dropped something off at my door last night :)

its a WoodWard Fab tube bender with die! its already assembled in the garage, I just need to figure out where I want it to live so I can drill the holes in my floor and get on with my slider project..E5qZ_Uk44fRhDaopWEt136vF-WuNWoLNJvyanDqO_b6704e2b06bb54be5b6221dde6a0fd3a46cf1c3b.jpg

two years ago, I got a spark in my ear and it pierced my ear drum as well. I’ve lost about 40% of my hearing in that ear according to my works yearly hearing program. I won’t pick up a torch without ear plugs or at least ear buds anymore. You definitely don’t appreciate your senses till they are gone.

It’s even worse when you loose your equilibrium and feel the nerve pain of it burning thru your ear drum. Prior to my last incident I had gotten sparks in my ear a few times, but nothing ever made it all the way to my ear drum. The audiologists didn’t even think and ember making it all the way to the drum was next to impossible.

Frankly, I can't even imagine welding without plugs. The sound is painfully loud when I lose a plug. I have to stop and refit before I can continue.
