hard time starting then shuts off changed fuel pump,( no sound from pump)2005 Toyota Tacoma 2nd gen

I have a Toyota Tacoma 20052nd gen v6. When you start its a hard start then runs rough and shuts off. Have changed fuel pump, fuel pump relay, crank and cam sensor, ( the fuel pump does not make hum sound when ignition turned on), thanks

Did you put a pressure gauge in there to verify you aren’t getting fuel pressure? Or just diagnosing via lack of sound?

Any CEL?

Able to run while spraying starting fluid into throttle body?

 

Welcome to TW! Throwing any codes? When is the last time you changed the spark plugs and cleaned the MAF?

 

So my step dad just went through what you just described on his 2005 2nd gen. He replaced the fuel pump with a aftermarket fuel pump. Worked for a day and the same issue persisted. Now on the second tow to the shop they concluded that the second fuel pump went out. They then installed a OEM Toyota fuel pump and it’s good as new. It seemed that they are sensitive to oem fuel pumps. Hope this helped.
