I installed a 3leaf aal from headstrong 2 months ago. After install everything was smooth with no vibrations or rattles. After having to go back and forth with my front lift a few times and adding UCA’s I have had two alignments done. After this past alignment I noticed right away a hollow knock or rattle every time I go over small bumps. Mostly in parking lots or my dirt road. I have checked all U-bolts and checked Torque on all things related to leaf springs. I have also checked spare tire. Everything seems tight. I didn’t put shims in ad I only went up 1.5”. However it’s been fine for two months after initial aal install. Only after alignment did this happen. New wheels with alignment as well.

Could be the military wrap at the end of the leaf slapping the shackle as it moves during turning over a bump. My Dakars did this and I wrapped the leafs together with light wire and the sound is gone and my wire is holding nicely

I did notice on both ends of the new aal spring retainers that there are 3-4 distinct lines running side to side on the leaf just fore and aft of the retainer. The retainer “pin/bolt” is rubbed on the bottom. There is plenty of clearance but not sure if this is the cause.

    Edit:
Lines are forward of aft retainer and aft of forward retainer. If that makes sense.

Can you elaborate on how you wrapped the wrap with wire? Or did you wrap wire around the base of the military wrap. Having a hard time visualizing.

IM getting a metal rattle sound going over larger bumps at higher speeds definitely coming from the rear of the truck. Just had my lift installed by a shop today. any ideas?
Bilstien 6112/5160 with dakar medium duty.
i thought maybe it was my spare tire but i checked it and it’s tight. Or does anyone have a link to a thread addressing rear end noises after lifting?

not sure i’ll have to look tomorrow. would driveline make a rattling sound going over bumps? i thought improper drive shaft angle caused vibrations not clanky rattle sounds. Then again I also read from many 275/70R17s wouldn’t rub with 2” lift but i sure do have some rubbing going on.

It means you didn't help the OP with his issue, but started inquiry on your own problem in the middle of his.

Better to start your own thread rather than piggyback. Now the OPs thread is cluttered with stuff he didn't ask about.

    Basic forum courtesy.

I never lifted a 4 by with out the tapered shim so i never had that problem but by chance if the spicer is bound up it would make noise. If you lifted it 2 to 3 inches without longer shocks or extended lift brackets for them they would make noise for sure. Check to see if the shackles are hitting anything.
How about the exhaust hitting or rattling. If you have a couple of buddies jump up and down in the bed you may be able to find it. I looked for a lot of rattles in my 35 year career working on cars and trucks. Hope this helps you find the rattle.

my bad. So you get told to use the search function because there are already answers to questions u might have can’t find anything particular, find something close on a thread that’s old then told to start my own thread? Is there Forum Bible I can read? Cluttered is the 60 page threads of nothing which is what i find when trying to use the search. can’t win

Nope there isn't. Just the COC.
Climb under the truck and start checking heat shields for the exhaust.

I did eventually figure out my problem. I went back and added my overload leaf. When I did I noticed my centering pin was a little loose. I assume that after driving a bit and maybe the tech adjusting the rear that that caused the centering pin to move to the new angle and become a bit loose. So the leaves were knocking a bit when going over bumps. Now with the knee pins and cranked down there is no more knock:)!
