Anybody else feel like the interior lights are too bright when driving down dark roads at night?

I mean the little heads up display behind the wheel, the head unit even with the brightness down (i turn it off now that i learned how), even the blue D signalling the truck’s in drive...

In my old rig there was a dial to dim all the interior lights and you could even kill all the lights, except the speedo

Not really, I drive with everything on the dimmest setting. I have an aftermarket radio that auto dims. Mine isn’t insanely bright. Unless I turn on the @MESO dome lights

Funny how everyone likes different settings, I always have my vehicles on full bright.

You turned the brightness down with the trip rest / odometer button right? And head unit screen is off?

You can dim the LED display on the gauge cluster by turning the odometer trip reset stalk/button. It only turns a tiny bit but that will brighten/dim that display for you.

Well that's great but it cuts down on your ability to see with your headlights, drastically reducing your visible safety zone. For maximum night sight, keeping your dash, radio and any other interior lighting as low as it can go makes a huge difference. If all you do is drive in large well lit cities, it won't make that much difference, but get out on a dark highway with no street lighting and you'll definitely see the diff.

For me I find the opposite, I mainly drive old dark rural roads and if its dim in the truck then the eyes take much longer to readjust after seeing oncoming headlights.

Aren’t the lights from the UFO’s brighter? The dash lights would be the least of my concern.

I have my dash lights 1 notch above off and the screen brightness turned down.

Also, I’m probably the only guy on this whole forum that likes a nice dim interior. I am happy Toyota does not fit LED map lights or dome lamps. I like the “candlelit glow” at night of the stock incandescents.

    I agree with you.

Cluster light on full dim, head unit off/ black, and still a little too bright for my liking.

However, this is really a fitting candidate for a "first world" problem, and it is what it is.

Toyota says "this is normal", lol
