My 2008 Tacoma just got approved for a new frame. HOWEVER, I have many aftermarket parts on it and would like to hear others experience with frame replacements with aftermarket parts involved.
I have aftermarket struts, leaf springs, UCAs, bumpers(front and rear), flexible brake lines, diff breathers, calipers, CV axles, cap on bed, rear driveshaft. Probably other things they would like to charge me for that I haven't thought of.

Who has had a frame replacement WITH altered suspension/etc?

    What are approved "ancillary parts"?

    Thanks in advance.upload_2019-11-5_19-21-42.jpg

Well, I'm in a somewhat similar situation as you. I have an aftermarket rear bumper and a US Offroad winch mount. I want to make it as easy as I possibly can for the guys doing the frame swap. I am going to remove the aftermarket rear bumper and reinstall the OEM bumper, remove the winch mount (even though it leaves a big gaping hole in the front bumper), remove all the bed bolts and reinstall them with neverseize, and remove and neverseize a bunch of other bolts. I know they're not going to spend 20 minutes on each bolt going back and forth, so this way they won't hammer my bolts to death with an impact. I'm going to loop my rear axle vent hose around the axle, and disconnect some of my add on wiring that will be in their way. I bought all new cab mounts and cab mount bolts, so they don't even have to remove the old cab mounts from the frame. I figure if I make it easier for them, they'll spend more time being careful with everything else. That's my wishful logic anyway.

For the both of you. I would ask the service manager or even just the service writer and see if you could just have a conversation with the tech. Dealing with the tech face to face could go a long way. Any thing you can do to help them understand your position and make there job easier should help create the best outcome for you. When I was a tech (Ford) years ago it was not uncommon to talk directly with the customer. If possible do this in advance so you know how to and what to do to prepare. If you show you understand the techs position the more likely they will better understand yours. You never know they themselves maybe an off roader. There could also be long term benefits of creating a Toyota Tech friend.

    6SPD,

For description “ancillary parts” refer to Frame Rust Repair thread by markey, page 191, bobsuruncle post #3802 dated 26 OCT 2019. See attached pdf for excerpt from "Toyota Warranty Policy Bulletin" –

Work with the tech, best approach IMHO. Hope this may help.

Thanks for the comments. I will be talking to the dealership today to see what they say about cost relating to aftermarket parts. Their voicemail yesterday didn't sound promising as far as expenses go. Either way, I plan on getting my truck back to remove the ARE cap, and clean out the truck before they start messing with it. I will probably remove my bumpers before bringing it back in as well. That should eliminate a lot of hassle from them. Unfortunately I don't have any of my stock parts anymore to throw back on...
