Thanks. After having it for awhile I dont think I would recommend the XAV-AX5000. The glass screen is really nice but the Android Auto will crash every now and then. Ive heard better things about the XAV-AX100 although its older and the screen is the plasticy type

    I’m a big Pioneer fan.

    I have had an AVH-X319BHS

And now i have a AVH-X1440NEX with apple car play and its a solid 9/10 for me

Thanks, i was going to ask what you thought of it. I've been overwhelmed with the sheer amount of options for head units.

Yeah if I were you I would go to Best Buy and play with a few options and look up reviews for them to see what peple think. And if you're gonna update the HU you might as well go with Apple Carplay/ Android auto. Its pretty awesome to have

I’m about to do a headunit and some speakers in my 4runner this winter.

Walmart has a pioneer that i’m eyeing. All i want is touch, CD, bluetooth, and back up cam compatability. Its only $120

Thats an appealing price, didnt even think of back up cam compatibility, another parameter to narrow results, thanks

One thing that I like about the Sony is that they make it pretty easy to bypass the driving safety features. Theres a parking trigger wire that youre supposed to splice in but I just grounded it so that I wouldn't lose any functionality while driving. I didn't want it to bitch at me and not let me, or a passenger, use it for certain things when driving. I know it's not so easy on some of the other brands specifically some of the Kenwood and Pioneer models. If you have one of those models you'll need one of these things

I put in one of those exactly as the instructions said, and it didn’t work for me.

So my 4runner ownership is going decent. She’s treating me well.

But i’m finding more things i want to replace or fix.

Like the return spring on the throttle plate, its super worn out and does not always return right away. Feels kind of sketchy sometimes.

I also have a squeak coming from the clutch fan on start up. Don’t know if its the clutch assembly or the pulley it rides on. But it goes away after about 5-10seconds, but it does it almost every start up. Super annoying.

I also have bad speakers in the rear doors...guess i’ll do them when i do the headunit

Hmm, yeah I havent had to deal with one of those. With the Sony I just grounded the wire and it's been fine

Its weird how it works. Also, any headunit with built in NAV has a gyro sensor that cannot be defeated. So stopped with the parking brake on is the only way to make them work

Full trd pro suspension. Toytec progressive add-a-leaf pack (with overload in). Sema trd 4runner rims. 285 70 17 ridge grapplers. Satoshi grill.
I grounded the parking wire directly to the back of the head unit itself and it works like that. I have a 2018 Kenwood model
