This image was taken from another thread but this is what I have going on after taking my badges off. I used fishing line to take the badges off and then a razor blade with goo gone and then just a microfiber towel with goo gone and I still have this left over. Any suggestions on how to get this off?

    Thanks

I would try for a true polish with polishing compound.

If a course cutting compound isn't working then wet sanding would be my next step. Start with some 1500 gritt then work your way to 2000 then 2500. After 2500 a good wax should finish the job

I ended up getting compound to work although the paint where the badges were looks a lot newer and so I can still see where the badges were.

3m eraser wheels work really good also. Just hit it with a cleaner and wax afterwards.

The "SS" fell off my wife's "SS Camaro", looked really bad. Bought & stuck new ones back on, for appx. $12, & it looks as good as new again. I'd think you could do the same & have yours looking good again.

+2 on the clay bar, I had some rust stains below my rear door handles and the clay bar took it right out.

Goof off pro to get the remaining glue off - use a plastic body filler wedge to scrape it so it won't mar the paint. Then your favorite light cutting polish or Scratch-X on a pad chucked up into a drill.

“Ghosting” is the term car detailers use to refer to this issue. Look up Debadge Ghosting videos.

3000 grit wetsand, then hit it with a cutting pad and finish it off with a polishing pad using a DA polisher. Protect it with some wax after polishin .

Is the new looking paint a big blob where you polished, or crisp lines that spell out TOYOTA? If the former, just polish the whole truck!

x2..I've debadged many vehicles and this wheel is the quickest and easiest method I've used. This method will "erase" what the OP posted in 10 mins. Use Meguiar's polishing compound afterwards and the badge area is undetectable.

I use a relatively non-aggressive solvent to remove remaining adhesive, and then follow that with some sort of mild abrasive or polish.

Using chemistry before mechanical attack seems to be gentler on the finish. ('Course, I'm speaking as one who's worked in polymer science around coatings and adhesives for forty years so I tend to go what I know...)

3M adhesive remover works well, if slow. It's a limonene (citrus-based) solvent. Mineral spirits or diesel fuel can work pretty well, too. If neither of those work, try isopropyl alchol (rubbing alcohol or stronger). I'd save that for last as it's less likely to work and probably has a greater chance of affecting the finish.

I used dental floss to remove the emblems then a hair dryer and my thumbs to remove the two sided tape then 70% rubbing alcohol for the residue.

It’s a little of the former so I probably need to polish the whole truck.
