Question about tire pressure on my BFG AT's

They are 265/75/16 with a cold rating PSI of 80..

Discount argues with me everytime I go in for rotations and they set the pressure at 35 PSI..

They always seem way soft and make a ton of noise.

I would think that if it's an 80 PSI cold tire you should run no lower than 55-60 PSI, Am I way off on that assumption?

thats the max rating that the tire can handle, not the recommended. 65 and they will be overinflated causing uneven wear and will feel like youre riding on rocks. 35 is a good number, a lot of people ride with 34 psi and it varies from front to back if you want more or less

 

Yeah, the tire mfr will tell you to set your pressure based on the truck owner's manual. But that 80lbs pressure is for an E tire carrying max weight which is e.g. 3200lbs PER TIRE.

The more weight you carry, the higher pressure you need to run. When was the last time you loaded your taco down to 12,800lbs (no trailer) sitting on 4 tires?

 

Do the chalk test. (you can search the forums for it)
