It's a head lamp, its electronic. I always have a spare.

My every day inspection lamp is "Big Larry". That fucker will go 6 days on 3 AA batteries...as in it is lit for 6 days straight.

I've got 4. I think they are all the original "Big Larry" lights. I kicked around grabbing the rechargeable version, but again, the need just isn't there. I'll see if I can find the ad.

Edit: I've got the 400 lm versions.

Now I'm curious about the 500's.

I have the 18650 rechargeable on my Streamlight flash light, and it lasts really well. Really nice that it recharges with a micro usb that plugs directly in to it, no separate charger, no weird adapters.
If your doing 123’s, I’ve had good luck with these https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B001W9Y4PK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They seem to hold level pretty consistently to the end of their life.

Led Lenser.. Headlamp focus can be adjusted from flood to spot. I use it for hunting, waterproof and I believe they have a rechargeable version.

@DVexile posted this in the camping/backpacking thread and a made an excellent case for the Nitecore headlamp. I have a couple of their lights and am very happy with their durability and how long they keep their charge with and without use.

Huh, I honestly no longer recall my old Black Diamond headlamp pinning me to the floor of the tent in the middle of the night and butt raping me but given the tone of that post of mine I guess something like that must have happened and my brain has just pushed the memory into some deep dark place. Next time I'm camping with a group I'll make sure anyone with a BD headlamp yells "trigger warning" before they take it out around me.

Anywho, year later still love the NU25. It also has a functional lock out mode to prevent draining the battery while in your pack. Just press and hold both buttons for a few seconds to lock/unlock. The UI is pretty much idiot proof and does a good job preventing accidental blinding. The only misfires I have are if in a rush to check something quick sometimes I'll try to turn it off in less than three seconds after turning it on and will thus bump it up in brightness instead. The other rarer one is if in spot mode I'll sometimes forget to press once to turn it off before holding the button to go to wide mode. The rub there is holding the button while already in spot mode turns on the super bright Turbo Mode.

The rage in my old post is amusing but also makes me feel good because with the NU25 I've just been picking up my headlamp and using it and being happy so much so I've forgotten how much previous headlamps annoy me.

The NU25 is my soulmate for sure. It knows what I need without me having to spell it out for them. And OMG it is such a good listener!
