    Damn that’s 2 votes against the HF crow foot. It’s just tight from age and all hose heat cycles. 100Nm isn’t that tight. That’s less than a lug nut

    What's the math? This may help:

    The complication with a crowsfoot on a torque wrench is that the scale is calibrated to its center of rotation (where you would normally put a socket), but the lever arm (the perpendicular distance from the center of the bolt to the hand grip on the wrench) will be longer or shorter than that depending on how you apply the crowsfoot. To make it just a bit more complicated, the more force you put on a torque wrench, the more it twists--this doesn't effect the length of the lever arm in normal application where a socket is centered on the rotation point, but when using a crowsfoot, the length of the lever arm could actually increase or decrease as the wrench starts twisting.

    In the example shown below, if the wrench reads 100 foot-pounds torque, the actual torque with the crowsfoot is 100 x 20/18 = 111 foot-pounds.

    Because of this complication, some auto manufacturers warn you to use their specialized torque tools rather than using a crow foot on a torque wrench.

    I used the box end of an open end 17mm to get the nut off. Then the crows foot and my torque wrench to put it back on. Yes, it changes the torque, but ever so slightly. I prefer this small deviation rather than the tighten it by hand till it wont move method. We have discussed in the Supercharger tips and tricks thread on the use of an impact wrench and the number of ugga uggas this would require. I feel that 4.5 uggs will be perfect.

    Doing some searching around, this 3/4 / 19mm torque adapter seems to be the cheapest best option



    edit - this was 19mm.... not 17 like needed.... searching.

    Yeah im not worried about getting it off with the box end wrench of my 17mm combo wrench.... just trying to find an appropriate adapter / crows foot for proper torquing of the bolt when putting it back on that wont explode into the motor. Me personally always been kind of a stickler with proper torque of internal motor bolts as well as crucial bolts (IE intake manifold)

    I hear ya. Does come off HARD though. I didn't torque mine back on, I just snugged it as much as I could without a cheater wrench or bar.

    (Don't actually do that please, that would be dumb. Just use some Elmer's glue on the threads instead.)
