I am having trouble finding a replacement tb for my 95. They are discontinued from toyota, and no aftermarket options.
I snagged one off of a 97 manual 4 runner at the junk yard and wasn't able to make it work due to the tpms being different and I don't want to have to do custom wiring to make a throttle body work if i can avoid it..
Anyone with an early 1st gen find any good replacement options? I think the 95-96 ones are the same but after that they changed to a 3 pin tpms. The 4 pin does not bolt in either, I already ruled out that option.. I'd even be interested in a low mileage used one.

Let me know, I'm tired of it idling at 1200 and burning way more gas than usual..

How many pins does you TPS have? How many did the 4 runner have?

Which trucks used which throttle body can get a bit confusing. There was some overlap on 3/4-wire TPS’s as well.

I’ll do a bit of searching here and see if I can offer you a solution.

Why are you replacing your throttle body is a good starting point I suppose. Can you repair it with a new IACV and/or TPS or is something else wrong with it.

There are differences for auto/manual and 2WD/4WD among others.

So in my last ditch effort to clear up the misfire on my original motor I went through and cleaned the heck out of the tb/ maf and the entire intake plenum. This was after plugs/ wires/ coil packs and injectors. It had 400k+ miles on it and I guess clearing the carbon made too much of a gap between the valve and the housing. I’ve tried washers/ springs and even adjusted the little Allen stoppers which brought it down about 200rpm.

Put in a new motor out of an auto truck, therefor I had to use my original tb. So no more misfire but the high idle problem is getting to be pretty annoying especially since my commute is about 5 miles of stoplights.

I’ve put in the iac and tpms from the auto tb mentioned above and actually ended up getting a p0202 code (iac). Tried to adjust the tpms with a little success but it always jumps back up.

My plan was to get a new one and be done with it, but that doesn’t seem like a possibility. I have a few leads on some locally and maybe I will get lucky and be able to drop it in, but if not at least I will be able to rebuild my current one or send it off to that guy in Florida if I can’t do it myself.

there is a company in Florida I believe, that will renew your throttle body. Some peeps on this forum have used him and all seem to be happy with his work.

Yes he does but it's differant then the 4 wire for the 2003 and 2004

Also its TPS not TPMS. Tpms stands for tire pressure monitoring system.

Potato-potato you know the saying.. I’ve had to program a few tpms valves in the past week from GS techs breaking them so that acronym is stuck in my head lol. Snow tire season, yay...

But yah it’s 4 pin that’s why the 97 3 pin didn’t work even though it had an identical drivetrain
