ARB bumper questions

So...

Found an almost new ARB bumper on Craigslist that is listed as “2005+” but I see there’s a bumper that goes up to 2010, then another one from then up- (my truck is a 2015)

Question is- how different are they?

I can grab this bumper for about half price... is it just mounting bracket BS that I’d have to mess with? The front end has changed some... but not much. Any ideas? Anybody done this?

You have to search. There's a previous thread on here with photos of pre-2011 arb on a 2012+.
Major difference is that the older bumper protrudes less.

 

That’s good news in my book. One area where protruding less is a benefit

 

If i recalled correctly, the 05-11 ARB bumper will hug the 12-15 front end closer.

Installed an ARB on my '14 in March....actually paid a buddy for his labor

Turned out better than expected...get compliments all the time how good it looks

My suggestions would be..add a winch during install..no better time to do it

Or...the 2" receiver is another option too...my bud filled in the gap behind the ARB

with a section of the OEM plastic...real clean job too...Yes..I changed coils to OME 886's

Overall.....money well spent....

 

Well, I grabbed the bumper this afternoon- it’s like new. The guy bought a regular cab 4 cyl and it was on there- but it was big and heavy for that truck. But it’s not like the one you guys are picturing- it’s plain, no fog light cutouts. I kinda dig it.

I’ll get it mounted as soon as I’m home for a few days in a row. Thanks @llamasmurf for the link- it looks pretty straightforward... I’m handy with a sawzall and grinding wheel so we should be golden. This is how it looks tonight



Jammed into the bed (one of those times you wish you had a long bed) waiting for along ride home from MN after a long week of work up here. Looking forward to it though!

I went w/ OME 885 springs on some 5100’s
MY12-MY15 sticks out a wee bit longer than the MY05-MY11. Great bumpers tho!

 

I have steel skids and sliders, so I upgraded from OME 885's before the bumper to 886's, on 5100's as well

 

My eibach/toytec/5100’s are sitting on my garage floor now. Nothing wrong with them but I had over 100k miles and blew the rear 5100’s when I loaded the poor taco down with about 2k lbs of oak and had to hump it 10 miles or so out of the woods across some pretty brutal “roads”. Just put a set of Fat Bobs coilovers on the front a few weeks ago and from what I can tell the spring rate is a little higher possibly... at any rate, I’m likely going with the receiver mount for a winch up front as road salt is a killer where I’m at as well, so that saves ~90lbs or so. I don’t see the weight of the bumper alone causing any issues.

 

I learned why they suggest a sway bar relocation... can’t use it with the Fat Bobs. I opted to just get rid of it. -10 more lbs FTW. Rides nice without it, plush almost. I love it.

 

good choice, simple cuts with a grinding wheel and things will fit. sold mine to a local who did the same thing

Mother fucker! I was looking at that same bumper on CL the other week waiting for my paycheck to come in lol.

Cant wait to be disgruntled when you post the pics.

 

Hahahaha... I know the feeling! Just happened to be up here working and saw it on CL last week- but I flew here. So I let it ride till this week and drove back this time. Honey, look what jumped into the back of my truck! Not a typical CL find. I was looking for lower control arms with bushings that aren’t seized... oh well, got a bumper now.

 

Its a heavy SOB......I added the foggers......$90

Remember my installer trimmed it off the ole bumper

Maybe yours won't stick out as far........

 

I’ve been looking and damn, the 05’-11’ version tucks in considerably closer. Not sure what necessitated the change but I think @llamasmurf still had to trim his stock bumper to fill the gap. Looking at the pics he definitely had less of a gap to fill however.

 

No sir, I did not use my stock bumper to fill any gap.

I actually had to cut notches in my grill to accept it. It sits up much closer to the front.

 

its about a 3- 4" of lip savings

some trim the grill and some trim the backs of the triangles of the bar supports, take your pick
