Last time I saw it up for debate (whenever they decided to extend savings time a few more weeks) the energy lobby lobbied the shit out of it.

They really like having those lights on an extra hour, or something.

Meanwhile I'm lobbying my company to straight up ignore business hours and run daylight savings year round, no matter what the local time says. :D

My office lies directly east of my house. So for about 1-2 weeks every spring and fall the sun is directly in my eyes on the way to work, and in the fall its in my eyes on the way home. (I actually thought about this when going through the home-buying process, but the alternative of buying a house to the east and commuting west means I would have to live in Dallas. Fuck that noise.) By the time the sun is finally through searing my brain for the year the daylight shift happens and I get to watch it glinting off all those mirrored windows all over again. :annoyed: I dont have to endure the sunset drive in the spring at least, but it adds two more sunrises that I have to stare into.

On a related note, the secret real reason why I got a Sport - I reach up for the sunglasses holder a lot more than I would ever reach for crawl control. :welder:

The idea up here or so I'm told was so the kids didn't have to walk to school in the mornin' while dark. I don't know of any kids that walk to school here & I live a stones throw from a high school, Jr. high & elementary schools. Just a bunch of soccer moms in curlers talkin' on the phone, shootin' stop signs rushin' to get their kids safely to school sometimes & a lot of buses. :notsure:

It’s a bunch of bullshit so the energy companies get a bit more in the coffers as previously stated. Politicians have the ultimate say so and politicians vote the way those with the dollars want them to...

I don't understand the problem. It is a very minor inconvenience for one day each fall and one day each spring. And I do see several benefits for schools. I have 3 grandkids in school and not having to wait at a bus stop in the dark in the morning is a big deal to me. And switching to DST in the spring means that most high school spring sports events can be finished before dark. Saves a lot of money not having to install lights on baseball fields etc. Having an extra hour after work to get the grass cut and other chores done before dark is a good thing for me.

It just ain't a big deal, but some people just look for something to whine about.

And some people just want to whine about other people who just want to live their lives with minimal government intrusion.

If time changes twice a year mess you guys up that bad then I highly recommend staying away from working aboard ships. Six or more time changes in as many days is not uncommon. Some runs have to double up and do multiple time changes in a day. Throw in the date line and :goingcrazy:

Of all the government intrusion that effects our personal lives daylight savings time is at the bottom of the list of things worth worrying about.
