It's a CV axle, they either suck because you don't know what your doing or they are super easy because you do.

Another question. My LCA bolt will not fit through the lower bushings on the ADS shock. Anyone else have this issue? Not sure what I should do..

Does it fit when the shock is not on the truck?

What’s the valving like on these out of the box? Or is special valving/tuning available from ADS?

I’m trying to decide between ADS front coilovers from Headstrong versus Kings from Accutune.

Accutune says with 650lb coils and their valving they can have my truck riding like a caddy on the road and top notch off road performance. Not sure if ADS would offer the same or better though?

in the rear I am planning on a 63 swap with 14” Bilstein 5165 shocks. (5160’s with a standard top eyelet).

truck has 150lb front bumper, winch, steel skid trio, sliders, and eventually a dual battery setup.

Then you likely got a set of bushings for a 4runner or 1st gen. Call the vendor you got them from to get a replacement, or if you need to install them today find a local vendor that would have them in stock.

Weird okay. I sent Headstrong Off-road an email as they are closed today. I’ll have to remove them and put my old suspension back on

I believe the valving is off the shelf from ads via headstrong. You can pay to revalve, or you can order straight from ads or accutune for a valving that matches your setup

Accutune only sells King and Fox. I’ll wait and see what Marie says about valving on ADS’s that match my setup. I sent her a PM already.

Accutune is a vendor that sells shocks and “tuning” services so what they throw at your shocks will be as custom as it gets without going out and participating in an actual tuning service.

Headstrong just does resale, but they are great peeps regardless and will do you right. I second 650# springs either way you choose though. Not that it means much, I’m just a random guy on the inter webs.

    Stuff and junk and things...
All Tacoma's run a 14mm lower bolt and same width. 4Runner are the same 14 mm bolt 1996-2015ish when the lower mount got a few MM wider but the older width misalignments still fit just fine.

I bet @Gruber1922 had normal 1/2" ID misalignments installed at ADS, accidents happen.

Accutune is no more expensive than other King vendors too, but a lot of people seem to be running ADS, so just curious what all the fuss is about.

figure if Accutune recommends 650# springs, there must be a method to the madness.

FWIW my Eibach pro truck springs are 742lbs and they are super smooth.

Not gonna lie I mix up mcm and accutune all the time. One of the sites has an in depth explanation as to what spring weight is recommended and why. Example the stock spring is rated at 717. Aftermarket vendors reccomend 600 and 650 for 3rg gens that are stock and slightly heavier up front ( skids, bumper, winch, battery ect.) Based off of a combination of spring and valving. Pretty brief but I'll try and find the link.

    https://accutuneoffroad.com/articles/coilover-spring-rates-for-toyota-tacoma-4runner/

One of the many articles explaining reasonings for proper valving and spring rate for vehicles.

I’ve read all the articles and fully understand. Basically what I’m asking is why should I choose off the shelf ADS over a set of Kings that I can basically get custom tuned, like @desertjunkie760 said above, for the same price?

I haven’t found anyone who tunes ADS to the extend that Accutune or even Thuren does for Kings, yet everyone raves that ADS are so damn good with factory/shelf tuning.

I think I know the answer to my question but was hoping someone in this thread with technical knowledge can chime in.

I’m running a 700lb coil with a similar setup 135lb bumper/winch, sliders, bed box and mat with softopper). If you get adjustable resis then you can softer or firm it up at will. The valving is progressive compression and digressive rebound out of the box

my front bumper alone is 150lbs and the winch is 60ish I think.

ordering direct from ADS seems to be the only way to get any custom valving it seems like.

Probably, but with the weight you are running sounds fine for 700lb coils and stock valving
