Probably a stupid question, but I don't know if I should go with ICON 1.5" progressive leaf overloads or the toytec 1.5" blocks. I've heard mixed things about blocks and they are cheaper, so I'm wondering if quality blocks are worth it? Or should I spend the extra cash on the ICONs?

There isn’t a quality block, really. It’s just a piece of metal, aluminum or cast iron. They’re pretty much the same outside of material.

Do you tow or haul? A single leaf AAL is stronger than a 3 leaf, so if you use it as a truck I’d go with a single. If it’s a people hauler then a 3 leaf will ride softer unloaded.

When people shy away from blocks, it isn't because of quality, but rather the way blocks affect the rear suspension. You are much better off, IMO, to install an add a leaf or a new spring pack.

If you are doing this for style a 1.5 inch block on the rear is fine. If you are trying to compensate for sagging springs or heavy loads do the AAL. If sagging springs are a real issue get new springs.

I'm doing this for a lift for style but mostly offroad. Would the blocks be okay if I got longer rear shocks?

I don't tow or haul, I'm going for offroad. I'm on a budget so I was just wondering if there was a huge difference in performance and ride quality between blocks or 3 leaf AAL

    I’d get a 3 leaf over a block

New u bolts and an hour out of your life to install. I put an add a leaf in my truck that was60000 miles ago. No problems and I can put a level box of firewood in the back and ride is ok sits level,2 inch lift in the front. With blocks you get more axle wrap.

If you are going to use the truck off road: go with the new springs or the AAL. The issue with blocks is they promote axel wrap, longer rear shocks will not solve the wrap issue.
