What UCAs do you have? There is a whole thread about SPC/LR UCAs that over 20 people have identified they have a similar problem.. SPC had a bad batch of bushings.. I think I might be one of those people...

I have the same sound but only on the passenger side over bumps or when pulling out of a parking spot

Check the c-clip on the lower ball joint. It's on top of the lca.

I did, seemed fine. These LCAs are new with only around 1,000 miles on them.

Thanks for the replies guys. I have JBA UCAs and have ruled those out as the cause. I know for a fact the UCAs and LCAs aren't the issue just because I've replaced them all since the start of the problem. I don't believe it's the sway bar since it seemed to still do it with both it and the end links removed. So at this point I'm thinking it's maybe the 5100s, the rack and pinion (though the steering still seems tight), or maybe my tie rods since I can rotate them fairly easily by hand. Another option would be the radiator mount bushings I guess.

I've looked at them, and they look intact, but I'm not exactly sure what to look for as far as wear on them.

So as far as the 5100s go, what could be making the clicking? They're quiet most of the time until I hit a bump that pushes up and back on the tires fairly quickly, or if it cycles the suspension almost completely. I just replaced the top hats with brand new ones and the springs aren't cracked. I'm stumped lol.

Yeah mine is different, its like a metallic click noise. I'll see if I can get a video and put it on here the next day I'm out deer hunting. Should be plenty of clicking then lol

OK, so i am new here but i had a very similar problem about 6 months ago. I thought it was all of the thing that everyone else as talking about here. One fine day I had a buddy over and we started shaking the hell out of my truck. Come to find out it wasn't the suspension it was coming from somewhere on the front of the truck. 90 minutes later we had the front end torn apart and it was the bumper brackets. The welds holding the pieces of the brackets together had broke and every time I hit a bump, curb, incline, pot hole, squirrel, hard stop, right turn, left turn there would be a metallic click/ping. Remove the pretty colored thing everyone calls a bumper, jump up and down on the actual bumper and see if the noise still happens, take the bumper off and shake the car or go for some speed bumps. If after you remove the bumper there's no noise then go buy some bumper brackets for $70

Cool I'll do that when I'm off work next. Thanks for the lead! Also, can you possibly post a couple pics of the brackets you're talking about? Thanks man

first picture is after the bumper cover and grill and other things are off. Second picture is the same but I labeled the parts for clarity. The bumper brackets bolt the bumper to the frame. The bolt are steel and the bracket is aluminum. Welding aluminum to steel is a pain in the butt, so I am not surprised that the tacks that hold the bolts in there broke. The last picture is the bolts that hold the bumper to the brackets.

The blue stuff is just gasket material. I am taking no chances of that annoying noise coming back

Thanks a lot man, that's super helpful! I'll pull that apart as soon as I can and take a look. I was about to swap out my tie rods because I've swapped everything else at this point, but they don't really show any signs of being worn out.

This is why I go with aftermarket steel assembly stuff which removes all that BS. No thanks for all that OE garbage.

Here's a stupid question. Are you sure it's in the suspension? The large possibility exists that it is your steering system, and the issue is occurring somewhere in the intermediate shafts. I thought I had a suspension issue going over rough roads until I addressed all of the inherent issues our steering system has. I was ready to burn the damn truck down. Now the entire front end is dead silent over any sort of road. I love it again.

Also, make sure your sway bar is not causing it. You may have to eliminate the links and the bar and take it for a spin to see if it stops. Do not eliminate the links alone otherwise the bar will strike the CV boots and tear them.

Well I'm actually not sure it is the suspension. I just replaced all four tie rod ends, both sway bar links, both sway bar bushings, and the coilover top hats. I also recently replaced (in the last 3-6 months) both the UCAs and LCAs, installed new rad mount bushings, as well as added sway bar spacers to make sure it wasn't because it was hitting something. I pulled the bumper off and checked everything I could see, nothing appeared loose or broken. I'm stumped. Anything else you can think of checking? Thanks for the reply
